2019 Summer Events
Fall Fair 2019
The Fall Fair is coming up! Join us on Saturday, September 14 for a day at the Fairgrounds and in the Arena. Strong Township has a beautiful Fall Fair for the whole family to enjoy. Come by the LBPOA table and mark your spot on our map of Lake Bernard! We will be bringing information and answers to all the most common questions. For the full schedule to the Fair go to www.strongtownship.com/events/sundridgestrong-agricultural-fall-fair.
LBPOA Member Golf and Kids’ Golf Lessons are Now Done For the Season
Thanks to The Ridge for hosting LBPOA Member Golf this year in a drop-in league for golfers of all abilities and lessons for kids ages 6-12. It was a highlight of the summer for many members and a great chance to get to know new neighbours in a non-competitive environment.
Sunflower Festival
This year’s Sunflower Festival was a record-breaking success on August 10, 2019. We enjoyed meeting neighbours old and new and renewing memberships!
218 Members Joined Us at the Cheers to Summer Event!
We hope you made it for the LBPOA Social Committee’s BIG Cheers to Summer Event to kick off the 2019 summer season. The Northridge Inn graciously provided a delicious free barbecue of gourmet burgers, salads, corn, watermelon and more - all free to members. The LBPOA ran waterfront games and entertainment for the whole family. Here are just a few more images - for others see the home page or our Facebook page: Lake Bernard Property Owners Association. Thanks also to The Ridge Golf Club, The Village Bins and Swift Canoe for their sponsorship. Thank you SO much to the Northridge, the volunteers, the social committee and everyone who came for making this such a special day! For more pictures follow our Facebook (LakeBernardPropertyOwnersAssociation) or Instagram pages (@lbpoa).
2019 LBPOA Annual General Meeting
We had a successful, informative and relatively short (relatively!) Annual General Meeting on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Enviro-Education Centre.
If you missed it, you can update your $30 membership online or in several other ways (see the Membership page). Our summer mailout was sent by regular mail this year but if you didn’t receive it, we can email it to you so please get in touch by email to [email protected]. It is a challenge to keep up to date addresses and emails so we do rely on you to fill us in!

Canada Day
Did you catch the parade down Main Street and celebrations in Lions Park on the edge of Lake Bernard? We entered this year’s version of our annual lakeside float and won first prize! That $100 will go into the account for more festive summer celebrations coming up.
2018 Summer Events - A Look Back
Sunflower Festival 2018
The LBPOA booth at the Sunflower Festival was a busy, busy spot! Thanks to everyone who came by to say hello, renew their memberships and put their cottage or home on the map on August 11, 2018. We drew for a beautiful gift basket, sold our gorgeous Lake Bernard calendars, answered all kinds of questions about Lake Bernard and enjoyed hearing your feedback and meeting new neighbours.

Phragmites - Protecting Our Shoreline from this Invasive Species
At the Annual General Meeting this July we launched a working group to address Phragmites, an invasive species of very tall grasses that are spreading around the lake. Pulling it out only spreads the plant so it must be removed carefully. The working group held a productive and well-attended info session to see what it is and how you can get help to remove it.
Annual General Meeting — Saturday, July 7, 2018
We held our Annual General Meeting on July 7, 2018 at 9:00 am at the Near North Enviro-Education Centre. Neighbours old and new met over coffee and doughnuts as we started the summer together. Members were able to hear the Mayors of Sundridge and Strong address issues of concern and ask them questions in this election year, learn about important meetings we have had on your behalf regarding the health of our lake over the past year, and heard what can be done to protect the health of the lake and it’s residents from blue-green algae recurrences and invasive species. We heard from a special featured speaker from the Federation of Ontario Cottagers’ Associations. We start early so it doesn’t take all morning! The address is 140 Main Street.
Bring a Neighbour Initiative: We encouraged you to bring a neighbour with you to the meeting! All new members could vote on all matters raised and had their names entered in a draw for a special gift.
