Mechanical Removal of Invasive Phragmites
using saws on Phragmites stands in Lake Bernard Including the complete lakeshore
The Phragmites Working Group Lake Bernard (PWGLB) will be accepting quotations for the following project to be completed by September 30, 2020
Mechanical Removal of Invasive Phragmites using saws on Phragmites stands in Lake Bernard and on the shore.
Scope of work:
The successful bidder will provide saws, necessary fuel and safety equipment, labour and supervision to a team of individuals with chain saw safety training, for the removal of invasive phragmites from designated locations to be provided by the Phragmites Working Group Lake Bernard.
The work will include the following tasks:
1. Cutting and clearing of invasive phragmites in October 2019 and June, July, August and September 2020 from the location known as : "The West End Stand" off of Tamarack Lane in Sundridge.
2. Cutting with saws of the in water and shoreline stands at the Dam on Lake Bernard after July 15 after fish spawning has finished, to be completed in water by September 1, 2020.
3. Cutting with saws of on shore and in water stands along HIgh Rock Drive with property owners permission on specific dates from July 15, 2020 to September 1, 2020
4. Working along side small groups of volunteers and or paid students who will assist with piling and /or removing of the cut phragmites for disposal according to best practices by either the Village of Sundridge or the Township of Strong public works departments at each cut.
All quotations shall be delivered or sent by email to: 33 Main Street Sundridge Ontario (Log Cabin) no later than October 19, 2019 at 4:00 pm. Quotations will be read after 4:00 pm.

- Successful bidders will provide to the Phragmites Working Group Lake Bernard a schedule including the dates that they will work 30 days in advance starting May 1, 2020 for June 2020, and June 1 ,2020 for July 2020, and July 1 for Aug 2020, and August 1 for September 2020
- The sucessful bidder will provide a work plan and work in collaboration with the PWGLB ensuring that they obtain the required permissionsfrom municipalites and that notification is given to all property owners impacted on this work.
- Bidders to provide an hourly rate for this work, proof of WSIB and will advise regarding the number of individuals with saws that they will provide at each cut in order to schedule volunteers to assist.

Other Requirements:
- The contractor recognizes potential for injury to themselves and their real property from this activity and assumes all risks and liability for any injuries to, or caused by, them while working with the PWGLB, and so releases and discharges the PWGLB and all of the PWGLB's supporting organizations for all claims, damages, and actions.
- The successful bidder is required to conform with the WISB and Occupational Health and Safety Act related to the performance of this work.
- Must provide a valid current Clearance Certificate issued by the WSIB and be self insured.
- Cutting dates, times and plans must be flexible due to weather, and safety concerns.
